SRHS Receives Sustainable Jersey for Schools Bronze certification
Congratulations to the SRHS Green Team on achieving Sustainable Jersey for Schools Bronze certification! Schools that earn the certification are considered by their peers, state government, experts, and civic organizations in New Jersey to be among the leading schools in the state.
Green Team co-coordinations Jared Aprahamian, Linda Ensor and Business Administrator Corey Lowell school will be honored at the 2018 Sustainable Jersey for Schools Awards Ceremony during the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) Workshop on 10/23. A total of 111 schools from across New Jersey have earned this prestigious award.
"It feels good, but we’re immediately looking to the next initative," said Aprahamian. "It’s just an initial stepping stone and we’d like to achieve higher rankings."
Ensor added that the Green Team would like to continue working on teaching people to recycle properly, contribute produce scraps to composting program, and trying to encourage people to use reusable water bottles, flatware, straws.
"They are responsible for their little footprint and they don’t want to add to the waste," she said.
