Baseball Field to be Named after Legendary Coach, Fred Kampf
Shore Regional Superintendent Mr. Thomas Farrell and the Shore Regional High School Board of Education announced that the existing Baseball field will be dedicated in honor of longtime, legendary, Baseball Coach Fred Kampf on Saturday, May 6th. The ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m.
Coach Kampf retired in June of 2009 after 35 years of teaching and coaching at Shore Regional High School. In 26 seasons as the head coach of the Shore Regional High School Baseball Program, Coach Kampf accumulated 374 Wins, 9th All Time in Shore Conference history. His other baseball accomplishments include:
Winning the State Championship in 1993;
Winning Sectional Championship in 1985, 1993 and 2000;
Winning the Monmouth County Championship in 1979 and 1993;
Winning 10 Shore Conference Division Championships;
Being named “Coach of the Year” in 1979, 1985 and 1993;
Receiving the “Coaches Sportsmanship Award” by the Umpires Association;
Kampf has been a pioneer for the sport of baseball. After graduating from Shore Regional in 1965, he went on to play Baseball at the University of Miami on a full scholarship. Following his college graduation, Coach Kampf was drafted by the Oakland A’s and played professional Baseball for several years. In 1974, Coach Kampf returned to Shore Regional as a teacher and coach.
The ceremony precedes the Shore Regional Baseball Team taking on Red Bank Regional in an “A” Central divisional rivalry game.
Following the ceremony and the game, members of the Shore Regional Baseball Community, past and present, will be gathering for a luncheon at 12:00 pm at Old Orchard Golf Course. The price of the luncheon is $20 and you can register by following this link www.fredkampffield.com
