Jessica Coleman Midtlyng, a 1998 graduate, is regarded as the most prolific female athlete to wear the blue and white. Jessica played both soccer and softball but it was her scholastic, collegiate, and national field hockey careers that is most impressive.
In her scholastic career, Jessica led her team to two State Championships. She set the record as the All-Time leader in points with 245 and was named to the 1st All-American Team twice. Jessica was selected as the NJ High School Field Hockey Athlete of the year, was a member of the NJ All-Time Best Field Hockey Team and a National A Camp participant. She also participated in the Junior Olympics, Futures Program and had her number retired at Shore.
Jessica attended the University of Virginia where she was a two time All American, a three time All South Select Team member, a two time All ACC player and a member of the ACC 50th Anniversary Women’s Field Hockey Team. Jessica led the Cavaliers in scoring for three years and ranks in the top 20 all time in ACC Scoring (58g-17a-133pt)
Jessica was a US Under 18 and Under 19 team player and helped the U19 team win the championship at the Montreal Cup. She was selected to the US Under 20 team and US Senior Reserve Team and an alternate to the US National Team. Jessica won a medal at the US Junior Pan AM Championships in Barbados was a member of the 2001 Junior World Cup Team which competed at the Tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2003, Jessica was named to the US Under 23 team and the US National Team.
Jessica returned to Shore as an assistant coach in 2002 and coached at Monmouth University in 2004.
