    JDLName: Joshua D. Lazarus

    Grade: 12

Role Model: My role model would definitely have to be my parents. My parents are the ones that are always there for me when I need them. They always support me in everything that I do and they push me to be the best person that I can be. They have shaped me into the man that I am today and I am very thankful for all of the sacrifices that they have made for me. I would not be the person that I am today if it wasn't for them.

Teacher with the most impact: I have loved every single teacher that I have ever had at Shore Regional. They are all extremely caring and want to see all of us succeed in school and in life. If I had to choose one teacher who has made the most impact on me, I would have to say Mrs. Encarnacion. I had Mrs. Encarnacion sophomore year for English and she is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. She pushed me to be the best version of myself day in and day out and she always knew how to make English class fun, no matter what.

What do you like most about Shore Regional?  The thing that I like best about Shore Regional would definitely have to be the culture. All of the teachers and staff are super caring and they truly want what is best for all of us. All of us students at Shore Regional are very supportive of each other and we all push each other to be the best versions of ourselves day in and day out. Everyone here at Shore is extremely supportive and caring, which makes us all a big family.

Activities: I am currently the captain of the Shore Golf Team. I have been the captain of the golf team both seasons that I have been part of the team.

Future Goals/Plans: In 10-15 years I see myself working in business and starting a family of my own. I am attending Rutgers Business School in the fall and hope to find a good job where I will be set up for success. My main goal and focus for the next 10-15 years is to be as successful and happy as I can be.

Role Model: My role model is my grandfather. He is such an incredibly selfless man who has always devoted himself to helping other people around him. He bravely served in the Vietnam War, and since his return has become a deacon as well as a teacher. He has always been so generous to everyone he comes in contact with and he is always willing to lend a hand to help someone in need. He has also been tremendously supportive of me and has taught me plenty of useful life skills. My grandfather is a great man and I hope to be like him someday.

Teacher with the most impact: One teacher that has had a great impact on me was Mr. Labush who was my sophomore year English teacher. The books we read and the discussions that we had in that class were very eye-opening to a lot of problems and issues in the world around us. Our discussions also gave me new perspectives on philosophical and moral issues. Another teacher who has affected me was Ms. Mazza who taught my math freshman year, as well as my current junior math course. She has helped me progress so much in my analytical thinking through her patience and willingness to work with students to help them gain true understanding.  Ms. Novak who has taught my sophomore and junior year history class, has also greatly impacted me. Ms. Novak's incredibly positive energy and her passion as a teacher has really impacted me and I hope someday I will be able to have the same passion and spread the same positive energy that she spreads to all of the students in her classes.

What do you like most about Shore Regional? I think what I like best about Shore Regional is how great the student body is. In my three years at Shore Regional I have met so many new people and all of them have been incredibly kind and inviting. The school has such a great community feeling and I love that it truly feels like a family.

Activities: I am a member of the Shore Regional Basketball team. This year I was a junior captain and I have loved my whole experience playing basketball at Shore. I am also a three-year member of the Shore Student Council and have been running the Student Council Instagram page this year. I also participate and volunteer through the Interact Club at Shore Regional.

Future Goals/Plans: I do not know what I will be doing in 10-15 years. I know I want to go to college in the next few years, but beyond that I really have no idea what I want to do. I hope that in 10-15 years I am happy and working towards whatever goals I have discovered for myself by that point in time.
