The Overdose Prevention Act now allows doctors the ability to prescribe the opioid antidote Narcan ® (naloxone) to those in a position to help someone else during an overdose of heroin or other opioids. The law also eliminates civil and criminal liability to anyone who administers naloxone.

Training is open to anyone who is at risk of an opioid overdose or their family and friends. All eligible participants will receive a FREE Narcan® (naloxone) kit and a treatment voucher for 30 days of free Medication-Assisted Treatment (methadone) at JSAS HealthCare or Somerset Treatment Services to use or distribute to any person. In addition, education will be provided on how to administer Narcan® (naloxone) to reverse a heroin/opioid overdose.

    All trainings will include:

    • Addiction education and treatment options
    • Overdose prevention techniques
    • Signs and symptoms of overdose
    • Fentanyl’s impact on overdose
    • Steps to take when an overdose occurs
    • Rescue breathing
    • How to administer naloxone
    • Self-help, family support and other important resource information

The Opioid Overdose Prevention Project is made possible by funding received from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and JSAS HealthCare, Inc. For additional overdose prevention trainings and resources, visit the Division of Mental Health and Addiction.

All Recovery Meetings are for everyone who supports recovery. They honor all pathways to recovery, acknowledging that each person’s path is unique and reflects their personal strengths.

Meetings are facilitated by trained and certified IFPR Peer Recovery Specialists and provide social support for those seeking or maintaining recovery, as well as family members, friends and supporters of those who have been influenced by substance use. These meetings are non-denominational and offer an opportunity to focus on the hope found in recovery.

Recovery does not happen alone. Join us and connect with others who are initiating and maintaining a recovery lifestyle.
