Andrea lettered in basketball in her sophomore year but turned her attention to swimming in the winter months and was a two-year letterwinner and a member of the Meet of Champions 1987 freestyle relay team.

During the spring, Andrea took her talents to the softball diamond where she excelled as a three-year letterwinner receiving recognition as an All Conference player in 1985, ‘86 and ‘87.  In 1987, she was named to the All-Shore and All-County teams, was a member of the Daily News All-Star Team and was recognized as an All-State All-Group outfielder. Andreas’s leadership qualities were evident at an early age as she was the team’s captain during her senior season.

Andrea’s career as a field hockey player produced some of her most outstanding accomplishments.  As a high school player she was named to the All-Conference team in 1985 and ‘86. Andrea received first team All-Shore and All-State honors as a senior defender with a career total of 32 goals and 20 assists.  Her efforts and talents were awarded by being named as a high school All-American in 1986 and she received a scholarship to the University of Virginia. In 1987, Andrea’s high school uniform, number 40, was retired and she was honored in a ceremony in the Spring of 1997.

At UVA, Andrea continued to excel as an athlete.  She was a four-year starter for the Cavaliers and was the captain of the team in her senior year.  Andrea was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team in her junior and senior years, and was recognized as a Regional All-American in 1988, ‘89 and ‘90.  In her senior year, Andreas was named to the Collegiate Second Team All-American squad.

Not all of Andrea’s hockey exploits were done in school as she participated in the Junior Olympics as a high school player and attended the United States Olympic Festival in 1989 and ‘90.  And, not to be overlooked was the honor of being a member of the 1990 United States Under-21 Squad.

Andrea excelled not only as an athlete, but was recognized as a scholar.  She received the Daily Register Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1987 and was the Valedictorian of her class at Shore in 1987.  In college, she was a member of the ACC All-Academic Field Hockey Team and a Dean’s List student.

Andrea is currently stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia were she continues to demonstrate her leadership skills as a Captain in the United States Air Force.
