    Kevin Mills, a 1985 graduate, is regarded as the most prolific kicker in Shore’s football history and one of the best kickers in the state of New Jersey.  After playing soccer during his freshman year, Kevin decided to play football as a sophomore.  Initially trying out for split end and safety, Kevin developed his kicking skills and became one of the best.

    In his three- year scholastic career, Kevin had 11 field goals and 41 extra points.  During his senior season, he connected on 6 out of 11 field goals including a state record 58- yard field goal and a 53 -yard field goal in Shore’s opener versus Pinelands.  Kevin converted 35 of 36 extra point attempts and had 25 non-returnable kickoffs.

    Kevin was not a one- dimensional player as evidenced by his split end and safety play, catching one touchdown pass and grabbing five interceptions.

    At the conclusion of his senior football season, Kevin was named as an All Shore and All State kicker and was named to the All -America First Team by the USA Today.

    Kevin participated in the NJ State All Star Game where he contributed a 38- yard field goal.

    During the winter, Kevin was a valuable member of the Blue Devil basketball team.

    A National Honor Society student, Kevin was recruited by a wave of Division I programs including Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, Clemson, Duke, Iowa and West Virginia, finally deciding to attend Penn State University where he was a member of the Nittany Lion teams from 1985-88, including their National Championship Team in 1986
