Dear Parents and Guardians:
As the school year comes to an end, the Shore Regional Math Department is already busy planning for next year. We have found that many students forget the course content and skills they learned during the school year over the summer months. In an attempt to keep students practicing their skills and preparing for the next level math class, we have prepared summer assignments based on the skills that are necessary for their next level math class. We feel this will give us a jump start in September, without spending valuable time reviewing topics covered in previous math courses.
Attached are the summer curriculum review materials for your student’s next math class. This packet was prepared by the Shore Regional Math Department and contains topics that reflect content learned in prerequisite courses. The completion of the summer assignment is mandatory and will be counted as a grade in the first marking period. The packet should be completed on time (first day of class) and should contain detailed solutions, not just answers, in order to receive full credit. It’s okay for students to use calculators, in fact we encourage students to use them on both the summer assignment and in class. The TI-84 is a good choice and is recommended for all math courses. There are many websites available for help with all math topics. A few are listed below:
The Shore Regional Math Department is committed to giving your student the highest quality math instruction. In order to obtain the high standards necessary with the introduction of the Common Core Curriculum and PARCC Tests, we feel practice during the summer must be an integral part of all instruction.
